Our choice of natural materials

choixformes.jpg

Our favourite material at the workshop : Cow horn is a light and soft material popular with musicians looking for warmth, precision and speed of play. It is stronger than wood and softer than bone or antler.

In terms of sound, it offers a lot of richness on the bass and good dynamics.

Aesthetically speaking, cow horn offers a beautiful rendition and a variety of colours (you can choose the dominant colour between blond/white, black/blond marbled or black).

Our horn comes from the butcher's. We work this superb material usually incinerated after rendering, and turn the off-cuts into natural fertiliser.

Options:
3 Colors: White / blond, marbled blond / black, black.
4 thicknesses: thin (1 mm), medium (1.5 mm), thick (2 mm), very thick (3 mm)

Point: rounded, pointed

The buffalo horn offers a warm, round sound as well as a pleasant grip. Like the cow horn, it appeals to musicians looking for warmth, precision and speed of playing.

In terms of sound, it offers a lot of richness on the bass and a good playing dynamics. The buffalo sounds slightly duller than the cow.

Aesthetically, it has beautiful shades of black and dark brown. Each pick is unique (color variations always exist from one object to another).

Our horn comes from slaughter animals. We work with this superb material, which is often incinerated after rendering, and transform the scraps into natural fertilizer.

We also make walnut and boxwood picks. Both materials offer a clear, round and warm sound.

The wooden pick is very comfortable to hold and is the softest one in our range. .

Walnut has a soft, round sound. Boxwood produces a drier and more powerful sound and is very durable.

Our wood exclusively come from the surrounding forests of the Pyrenees.

Deer antlers will provide a rich, clear and bright sound. Just like bone, it is a hard material allowing excellent attack control, fast playing and a nice warmth on the bass. It is also very solid and has a long life span.

After polishing, deer antler has a smooth, predominantly white side and when the other one is slightly spongy side offering a good natural grip.

Our deer antlers are made of scraps gleaned in the surrounding Pyrenean forests.

We recycle cow bones, as this material is often incinerated after rendering and transform the off-cuts into natural fertiliser.

Ram horn is a rarer and more difficult material to work with. It offers the same playing characteristics as cow horn, a warm and mellow sound, slightly lower than cow horn.

Aesthetically, it has superb colours with black and blond marbled veins.
