A PRESENTATION OF OUR WORKSHOP

We have been designing horn objects since 2013 in our workshop in Bélesta in Ariège.

We have since moved our workshop to the hamlet of Le Gélat, 10 minutes from the centre of the village on the climb of the Sault plateau.

Since our beginnings, we have been making picks from horn and other natural materials that we sell in our workshop shop and on the craft markets of Occitanie. We also participate each year in several festivals and fairs dedicated to the guitar (Salon de Toulouse, Salon de Montrouge, Guitar Summit in Manheim, Festival Django Reinhardt...)

THE SPIRIT OF OUR WORKSHOP

We have chosen to sell only picks of our own making.

We make them in small batches and can work to order if you want a custom shape.

Our materials are natural and eco-friendly.

Horn and bone are by-products that are often incinerated. All our scraps and the dust we generate are turned into natural fertilizer.

The wood we use comes from the forests of Ariège and Aude.

Deer antlers are scrap antlers gleaned from local forests at the time of moulting.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

Each pick is made with care and by hand. The horn is unwound and hot-pressed to obtain a plate. The pick is then traced with a template and cut manually with a saw.

This is followed by several sanding steps and shaping the tip and corners. Finally, we give shine by rubbing to the cotton and flannel (no varnish or dye).

Thus, each pick is designed in about ten steps, all manual.
